WHY DO WE HAVE THIS PORSCHE IN THE CAFE AND NOT ANY OTHER CAR?

DID YOU KNOW? (A MUST READ)

1953 Porsche 356 "pre A" 1500 Super / Manfredo Lippmann

This Vehicle competed in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana, piloted by the Guatemalan Coffee Mogul, Manfredo Lippmann

Lippmann began racing in Guatemala, where he found success and also formed the Asociación Guatemalteca de Caminos (literally the Guatemalan Association of Roads), a club dedicated to racing.

The club purchased five Porsches: three 356s and two 550 Spyders. Porsche's class win in 1953 was its first in a major race in the Western Hemisphere, and it came at the hands of a pair of Guatemalans in the club, though not Lippmann, who DNFed. It should be noted, though, that he campaigned his 356 solo, with no co-driver of record. Even the factory drivers failed to complete more than two stages.
